Review of Falling Down (1993) by Rick D — 12 Apr 2012
It's not that Douglas's character is a hero, because he's not. He's a sad, desperate, unstable and dangerous man who is angry at the "injustices" the world has thrown at him. But Douglas is gives such a mesmerizing performance that it is hard for the viewer not to be drawn into the troubled mindset of the lead, even while he is performing acts that aren't just criminal, but also racist, sexist and the threatening of a child.
It's an amazing film and even more stunning when you figure it was directed by of all people Joel Schumacher.
