I don't really know why, but this is my favourite film of all time, hands down. Sure it is offensive, sure it's out there with the bizarness of the plot and characters he meets, but that's kind of the films appeal. It shows how we blend into society, accepting those we may not get along or agree with, (such as gangsters or extremeists,) but what happens when we just no longer comply to the norm? What happens when you can't take it anymore?

Wev'e all been there in Mcdonalds, wanting a breakfast but being a minute late, getting food that is nothing like it is advertised, but would we take a gun to the place over it? No. But this film does that, and in such an ingenious way. Forgetting the slightly racist scene at the beginning, ( which can be interpritated as such only if you see it that way,) this film is just great.

I will say, however, desipte my five star rating I just wish they would of done this film with someone who didn't come out as having mental problems at the end of it. He was obsessed with seeing his child even though the authorities have stopped him from doing so, and when he watches the old videos where he is shouting at his wife and kids we learn he is not mentally stable. I see this as a way for them to justify him snapping so harshly in the film, ( hitting people with baseball bats, shooting them etc) and I think it makes it more believable to be honest, but it detracts from the awesomeness a little bit.

Micheal Douglas is awesome in this film and looks like my old college tutour, who never snapped under pressure. Sometimes I just imagine it's him, but I liked this film before I met him so who cares?

This movie is for those of you who have ever fantasised about getting even with people who put you down in society, the shop charging to much for a soda, the food place serving you rubbish and telling you when you can buy things, the gangsters protecting thier turf, the roadworkers fixing a road for nothing, the nazi extremist, the snooty golf club members, this is a great film, not too gory really, yes violent in places but nothing graphic. Give this film a try if you like a good story/action flick. You will not be disapointed I assure you!
