Review of Falling Down (1993) by David F — 11 Sep 2012
A really good studio made film about a defense industry engineer who loses his job and snaps, going on a bizarre crime spree in which he sarcastically responds to many of the inconveniences and annoyances of modern life like panhandlers, road construction, not as-advertised fast food, and racist shop owners.
This film was an attempt to capture the mood of the recession which afflicted the country in the early 1990s and it succeeded in providing a memorable parable of the angst of that time of downsizing and economic contraction.
