Review of Falling Down (1993) by Micheal K — 29 Oct 2013

Just finished watching this movie thanks to an amazing website called YouTube and now for the most important part, my opinion. Picture this with me if you will, you are sitting in your car, stuck in traffic and it hot as hell and your AC doesn't work. All you hear are people screaming at the non moving traffic, flys keep on flying to you a really bothering the hell out of you. You're probably going to be stuck here for a good long time....or you could just get out of your car and start walking home. Here's another scenario, you need change for the pay phone and you go into a small local store and ask for change only for the rude store keeper tells you that you have to buy something. You settle for a can of coke which is 85 cents, you need 50 cents to use the pay phone, what do you do. Do you beg the storekeeper to take pity on you and just give change or do you fight back? Here's one more, you go to McDonald's really wanting to buy some breakfast. As you order, the women at the counter says that they stopped serving breakfast at 11:30 and looking at your watch it's five minutes past that. Now what do you do? Just order some unsatisfying lunch? I think that a better question is 'what do YOU really want to do?'...

This movie is filled with bits like this, a man working doing a job he hates. Having to put up with everyday annoyances like this until he finally snaps. My problem with the movie is that the subplot with the wife could have probably been removed almost entirely but whatever. It's a cool movie to see because of how relatable it is. I think that at some point in our lives we've thought about falling...
