Denzel Washington gives a fantastic performance in this film. I saw this film in the theaters and was absolutely impressed by the all the actors and how well each performance was executed.

This was the film that opened my eyes to Denzel Washington, before this he had some other notable performances, but I hadn't checked them out yet, this film pushed me to do so.

The film basically shows us a world that we may not want to know, the fact that the devil is in all of us and with a simple touch Satan can change our world for the worse. I'm no religious person, I believe a person is judge by the life they live and not by who they get on their hands and knees for, but its a fact that evil and good are always around and this film just gives us that fact in a Mystery/Thriller kind of way.

Elias Koteas, most famous for his role as Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II, has a small cameo that sets the stage for everything we see throughout the film.

John Goodman and Donald Sutherland also join the cast to give us a particularly good amount of A-list actors. Embeth Davidtz plays another small role which slowly becomes a major influence on the things that happen in the film.

The film also manages to allow us to care and get to know the characters most close to Washington's character. The voice over done by Washington is meant to be the voice of the demon Azazel, discussing the events of the film to the audience, nice little touch when the twist happens at the end. Every time this fil is on I can't help but leave it on, its amazing how this film scores on this site, because it certainly deserves a great deal of respect. 4 out of 5 stars.
