The story/plot was fine, just what I would expect from Fairy tail, but it takes place AFTER Fairy tail reunites and the final season just started airing in October. The movie should have came out after FT reunites, so it made more sense for the anime only fans.
Assuming it went from where the manga was at that time, it makes sense then. The animation style also didn't match the 2018 version and looked very different.
