Review of Fair Game (2010) by James W — 26 Sep 2013
Despite fluid camerawork and realistic performances from each and every cast member, Fair Game both suffers and heavily relies on an excess of new reports which ultimately have no effect to an already slow moving plot, or at least any reason to be there.
These report clips cross into repetitive territory, a lot of movies lately seem to throw in news clips to try and add intrigue but instead they are tedious and at the end of the day pointless, examples such as the opening to the new Red Dawn, World War Z and Underworld Awakening.
Can't a film just rely on a strong narration or let the plot unfold naturally instead of inserting clips here and there. I bought this movie to see Naomi Watts who is one of my favourite actresses, and in this she undoubtedly delivers, and I love a good political thriller but minus the word thriller and all you get with Fair Game is a fact based drama that never grips you and intrigue is completely absent.
