Review of Failure to Launch (2006) by Movie K — 21 May 2010
Rather nice and enjoyable rom-com. Movie begins with Matthew McConaughey bringing home a woman that seems to wanna settle down with him. His dad Terry Bradshaw barge in while they were having sex. She can't believe a grown man still live with the parents and left.
Matthew have 2 other friends who also live with the parents Justin Bartha and Bradley Cooper. Kathy Bates is the mum and she do chores for Matthew. They hire Sarah Jessica Parker, an expert lady who help failure to launch man move out and be independent.
Zooey Deschanel is Sarah house mate and she has got a cool personality. Sarah and Matthew have a chance meeting and hit it well. It is off course arrange by the parents. Their first dinner date, she give him a kiss.
Sarah pretend her dog is put to sleep and he brings her to paintball fight with his pals. She help them win the battle and his friends totally likes her. Everything is working to her way. Justin saw Zooey and likes her but she ignores him.
He brings her out to sea on a boat and he want to buy an old boat. She encourage him and give him the look. He wants to dump her as usual and bring her home to meet the parents. She has no choice but to break her own rules and have sex with him.
Matthew has never met such a situation. One day Sarah is on another case with Patton Oswald, Justin saw all that and the only way he won't tell is to date Zooey. She told him about the noisy mockingbird and he offer to help her with a BB gun.
The bird is hurt badly and they manage to save it and then they have sex. Meanwhile at the baseball game, Bradley also know Sarah's secret and told her about his. Next day Bradley reveal out to Matthew about her and he ask her over for dinner and announce he wants to marry her and make her move in.
It's all faux and he leave the house and ignore Sarah. She falls in love with him actually. Sarah can't go through the pain and agony and decide to quit and back to Colorado. Terry has change the bedroom into his naked room.
Kathy ask everyone over to make the two together again. Zooey bring Sarah over to Justin's house and lock her in, Matthew been tie to a chair, to make them both talk it out. After their talk, they finally kiss and make up.
Their friends were watching them live in a cafe. They go on a boat trip together and everyone is happy with their other half.
