Review of Fail Safe (1964) by Jarrod L — 09 Jun 2008
(NOTE: This is not a copy of Dr. Stragelove. It was made at the same time, actually started first and made from the book of the same name. Columbia pictures produced both films.) Best film ever made! Although it's pure fiction, it is a statement about the nature of man and the nature of machine which is always bound to fail because it is created by imperfect man.
Don't bother watching Dr. Strangelove, which is drivel and not funny in the slightest. This is a drama that consists of political and moral philosophy about a time when man was the closest he had ever been to self-destruction.
The discussions that take place amongst the think-tank and on the red phone paired with a tremendous twist ending made for the most profound (non-abstract) film ever made.
