Review of Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004) by Jake P — 14 Feb 2011
If you can make it through the sloppy and oversimplifying first half, the second provides a sharp contrast between statements made by those in power and how they actually play out in the real world. Footage of military recruitment advertisements is chopped up against footage of burnt and killed Iraqi civilians, as well as hospitalized US soldiers and grieving mothers.
While clever editing is not a technique that relies on a lot of research, it's a quick and very "on the ground" way to make several points. The Iraq War was initiated on several false premises, the result of which was a lot of rich people getting richer (weapons manufacturers and military contractors, for example) and a lot of poor people got shot, killed, or injured.
