Review of Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004) by Ryans. — 25 Jun 2004
I was enjoying the movie for the most part, until Moore made a bald-faced lie that is uncontrovertable. He states about 2/3 of the way through the film that Saddam Hussein had never killed a single American before the Gulf Wars.
I hope he's ready to send an apology to my best friend and his mother who lost their father/husband who was working in Kuwait as a consultant and was killed by Iraqui soldiers who invaded Kuwait.
Sovereign Kuwait!! That was possibly the most offensive, insensitve thing I've ever heard on film. I'm telling my friend not to see the movie, but he insists on watching it. It sickens me, thinking back to Moore's self-righteous tone of voice as he tells this reckless, ignorant lie.
Makes me want to puke. Playing it fast & loose with the facts, juxtaposing mutilated Iraqi children with American soldiers listening to death metal music -- all is in poor taste, but excusable. Nobody takes the guy all that seriously anyway.
But insisting that Saddam never killed any Americans is a slap in the face of my best friend and his entire family. Shame on you, Michael Moore.
