Review of Fahrenheit 451 (1966) by Scott W — 10 Mar 2009
Sometime in the future: books have been banned (and apparently ALL writing?) because they cause unhappiness. so they worship tv and it homogenizes everyone - except a few free spirits.
I have not read the book but it seems the movie left some things out. logically the story didn't seem to make much sense - how can people read books if they've never learned to read? conceptually it's hard for me to even imagine a society wholly without writing. it reminded me of books I have read years ago - "brave new world" and "1984".
No strong reaction to this movie. visually it's a quite striking movie.
