Review of Fahrenheit 451 (1966) by Andy L — 31 Mar 2010
So good. Now I wanna read the book again. It's great to see that Truffaut really got the main point of the novel when so many have missed it, and I truly believe he's done a masterful job at choosing what elements to exclude from the source material when adapting it, be it for budgetary constraints, time limitations or simple thematic focus.
I would've never thought of adapting the book as a somewhat hitchcockian thriller, but looking back at it after seeing the movie, it's a perfect choice right down to the Bernard Herrmann score, stylish nightmare sequence and general mise en scène.
