Review of Fading Gigolo (2013) by Jeff S — 02 May 2014
A generally pleasant, occasionally uproarious comedy about rediscovering the lost magic in our lives (sometimes unwittingly) through the experience of an unlikely pleasure provider to a trio of lonely women.
The film's excellent supporting cast (including some of the best on-screen work Woody Allen has done in a while) makes up for a lead performance by John Turturro that's often a little too understated and that could definitely have benefited from a better-developed back story.
Expect an enjoyable time at the movies, but don't go looking for epic filmmaking.
