Review of Fading Gigolo (2013) by Dann M — 29 Dec 2014
John Turturro writes, directs, and stars in the indie comedy Fading Gigolo. After receiving an unusual proposal, a financially struggling man gets talked into becoming a gigolo. Co-starring Woody Allen, Sharon Stone, and Vanessa Paradis, the casting is pretty good; as are their performances.
Yet the story is rather pointless, and the characters aren't developed that much. There are some nice bits of comedy and a few poignant dramatic moments, but none of it's followed through on. Though Fading Gigolo tries to say something about human connection, the message is muddled and gets lost in the monotonous storytelling.
