Review of Factory Girl (2014) by Eletha T — 01 Mar 2010
A diligent, sometimes even strong biographical picture, but also one which draws most of its power from an assumed preexistence of a relationship between the viewer and its subject. That element largely missing for me, the film still struck a few chords, but ultimately, somewhat underwhelmed.
My measuring stick for how powerful a biography about an artist unknown to the viewer can be is "Basquiat". This is, by a hefty margin, no "Basquiat".
