Review of Factory Girl (2006) by Mirka J — 17 Mar 2008
Factory Girl suggests that the viewer have some familiarity with the story of Edie Sedgwick and Andy Warhol and then proceeds to fail to add anything to that knowledge the viewer already has. In other words, the film did nothing to enhance my understanding of the dynamic between the two, despite their being excellently played by Sienna Miller and passably played by Guy Pearce, respectively.
However, there is some serious blasphemy here. Jimmy Fallon as a Factory artist? I don't think so. And Hayden Christensen as Bob Dylan?! Hell no! Factory Girl tried, it really did. But it fell short.
Very short. What should be a fabulous, exciting look into the twisted world of Warhol becomes just another story of a good girl gone tragically wrong. She dies people. There you go. Spoiler alert! The end.
Don't waste your time. Go look at some Warhol silkscreens instead.
