Review of Factory Girl (2006) by Dave J — 15 Jul 2008
Sienna Miller as Edie Sedgwick and Gut Pearce as Andy Warhol provide two fine performances, but are hampered by an uneven script. The biggest problem, though, is the unconvincing figure of 'The Musician' played by Hayden Christensen.
It's blindingly obvious that this is meant to be Bob Dylan, but the character seems like a two-dimensional James Dean clone; which would have undermined the film's credibility even if Dylan hadn't reacted with lawyer-backed fury to the suggestion that he behaved in the horrifying way shown in one scene near the end.
Ultimately a depressing film about hollow glamour.
