Review of Factory Girl (2006) by Tyler L — 29 Jul 2009
Art. Pop Culture. Andy Warhol. Edie Sedgwick. Sex. Rock n Roll. Drugs. Drugs. Drugs.
That is pretty much the plot of "Factory Girl." This film has great actors who give great performances, but the movie is only and okay experience. The story of Edie Sedgwick and Andy Warhol is an extremely interesting one. However, it is filled with so many bizarre notions, hardcore drugs, and sex that it clouds the inner beauty of the film. Guy Pearce did a great job as Warol. I did not enjoy watching him, but that is not because he didn't do a good job. It is because he did so good of a job that it was rough to watch. My favorite performance in this movie was Hayden Christensen, which surprised me considering I normally can't stand Christensen. His role as the rock star, who was clearly Bob Dylan, was great. It was the only hopeful role in the movie. "Factory Girl" isn't bad film. In fact, it is a very well done film. But... it isn't for everyone. This movie will be enjoyed by fans of Warhol and fans of indie cinema. If you do not fit into one of those two categories, I suggest renting another movie.
