Review of Facing the Giants (2006) by Elizabeth H — 20 Mar 2009
I'm going to start this off by saying flat out that anyone who focuses on the low budget of this film is completely missing the point and not thinking about what's important. Period. The point of this movie was not to wow audiences with amazing visual effects, flawless direction, and an Oscar-winning script.
The directors would be the first to tell you that their films are nowhere near Oscar material - they said so. But a spotless film wasn't the goal. The goal was to encourage, uplift, and strengthen the faith of viewers.
This was an incredible movie about faith, determination, and trusting God even when things seem impossible to face. It was an amazing story which says that if we open our hearts and realize that we have to rely on more than ourselves, God will prove how mighty He is and begin to work miracles in our lives.
This film brought me to tears and encouraged me beyond description. I thank the Lord for the Kendrick brothers and Sherwood Pictures for their boldness to stand up for what is true, pure, right, and Christ-honoring.
I can't wait to see how God will continue to work in and through this Christian film effort - I have no doubt that greater things are yet to come!
