Review of Faces of Death (1978) by Jeremy S — 12 Jun 2008
More notable for the childhood awe and playground postulation it inspired than for any actual quality, but in high school when I sat down with a friend and it sunk in that I was finally, after all this time, really about to watch "Faces of Death", I felt real fear.
Genuine anxiety, of a nature I've rarely felt before or during a movie since. I can't help but at least tentatively get on board with something that can lay claim to that kind of power, even if the "film" itself only occasionally lived up to its longtime promise.
