Review of Faces in the Crowd (2011) by Scott S — 06 Nov 2011
What starts out with a fairly interesting premise for a horror movie ends up being a total disaster. A thriller with a real foundation in psychological manipulation, with twists and surprises to keep you guessing.
After the set up it just becomes a mess of over done tired cliches and plot devices driven by mostly stale acting. Milla not included. She lives up to her standard. But I'd say it would be hard for an actor to be in this movie since the character stays the same but a different actor is playing it every time we see them.
So an actor never really can get in the role really. How many times do we have to see the girl running away from the killer and trip? Or the hero figuring out who the killer is and has to rush quickly to save the damsel on the other side of town? Put the faces changing idea in the hands of a director who is confident like Christopher Nolan or David Fincher and you'd have a pretty spellbinding movie.
This is a waste of time.
