Okay I kept forgeting to rate both Faces and 61* which I saw over two weeks ago, but I just saw Sweetback tonight so while its fresh in my mind I will discuss it here!

And I was able to go buy some new dvds! :D I bought South Park season 4, Dial M for Murder and North By Northwest!

And today I called my boss and said I was too busy to go into work...;) so I am a happy camper today. :p See you can't wipe my smile off of my face! :).

Faces.

I loved it. I loved it so much...that my affection for it is almost obscene, I kid of course but I need people to watch this movie, or at least give it 35 minutes of your time before turning it off.

First time I saw it I thought it was all hype and no delivery. But I was wrong, the movie is the perfect movie. Why I say that is this is the sort of film that we student film makers aspire to produce. Just watching what Cassavettes was capable of doing with a two man crew [which I know a little about] and a camera is great.

And the acting is fantastic...I found myself falling for Gena Rowlands and her silent gaze! But if you want to have a grand old time hang out here with Seymour Cassell who was sooo funny I was rolling in my seat in the auditorium. :D Mind you he was a hottie back in his day!

Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song.

This one threw me for a loop, I loved it and was completely shocked but its steamy content. My professor said that the scenes were not shocking but honestly I felt floored by the sex scenes. Two of which were funny, one strangely sexy and the other was awkward if not out of place. So beyond all the sex and nudity the movie had a couple of innovative moments.

But Melvin Van Peebles, and his sweet back is a saavy director/composer. I did however notice that several people in the audience were talking shit about his editing...like I care what those hacks think! I've worked on some projects, film making is a bitch: it is hard work and not for the weak willed. This movie is a testiment that when things get hard...you just make that hardness work for you ;) [If you watch it you'll know what I mean].

61*.

I was surprised that this movie wasn't boring. It was quite interesting, to my astonishment. I'm not much of a baseball fan but this movie was more concerned with the people behind the game.

I recomend it to anyone...you may be skeptical but you will finish the movie greatful that you saw it.
