Review of Face/Off (1997) by Michael E — 05 May 2011
With its over the top/ridiculous premise and "top notch" acting from Nic Cage, Face/Off may be one of the worst movies that a person has seen. Even so, the narrative was straight forward, the action was entertaining and the plot created a nice twist to what the protagonist, John Travolta, has to over come to set things straight. When Sean Archer thinks he has the upper hand, the villainous and ape shit crazy, Castor Troy flips the "switch" stacking the deck against Archer.
It's a fun movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. In fact, I am almost embarrassed to admit it just because how over the top it is. I'll put it this way, if you embrace the premise then you'll be in for one hell of a ride. If you don't then without a doubt you will not like it at all. Oh yeah, John Woo is the shit.
