Quite sad, a bit tedious & confusing most of the time. NOT "darkly comic" at all.
Mildly mentally challenged Masako has been raised by her mother. Her mother dies, her younger sister verbally & physically abuses her, she snaps & murders her sister, she leaves her sisters body in the only house shes ever known to flee from the the police who are hunting her, she becomes homeless, she gets raped.... and this is all done within the first 15 mins or so of the film. The "oddly liberating journey" she is on is her trying to survive on the run from the police.
