Review of F for Fake (1973) by Sergio R — 29 Dec 2007
It would take Welles to make such relentless examination of what we understand as truth, lies, art, hype and manipulation into a film as entertaining and light of touch as this. From the beginning firmly in the role of magician or charlatan (but what is the difference?), he turns us all into happy kids at a birthday party, whilst asking us questions worthy of any deconstructionist philosopher and taking us for a memorable ride at the end.
Cannot recommend it highly enough.
