A list of descriptors comes to mind when trying to organize my thoughts on this masterpiece, a small amount of them being astounding, complex, entirely fascinating, investigative, and the list would go on if I didn't want to bore anyone who bothers to read.

A brilliantly edited essay/documentary/hoax on the very subject of hoaxing itself and one that really shows all of the diverse talents Welles had to offer to the world of cinema which no other man may ever match.

Breaks down the human conventions of what is real and what is false with a moving monologue near the end of the simple mortality of everything in the universe, no matter how we may try to preserve it.

Having background on the real de Hory/Irving story helps to understand the film since Welles's frantic style may be too much to catch on first glance.
