Review of F for Fake (1973) by Corey C — 13 Jul 2008
This film cements the "genius" standing that Orson Wells has garnered since his death. Of course he made the unbeatable Citizen Kane, but F for Fake is so ahead of it's time and uses both film techniques and style choices that are common place today when (in the 1970's) they seemed bizare and unintelligable.
The story itself is incredible and beats most pieces of fiction about forgery (a la: The Hoax or Catch Me If You Can). These two factors coupled together create a mesmerizing 88 minutes that go by way too fast.
A great film all the way through.
