Review of F for Fake (1973) by Ben E — 26 Dec 2009
Welles' last film, I encourage anyone who loves museums to watch this exploration of forgeries and the true value of a piece of art. Always interested in broadening his viewers' sensibilities, Welles profiles an art forger named Elmyr who has made thousands of dollars through his ability to fool the "experts".
Some of his copies are hanging in the most reputable museums, posing as the genuine article. Orson Welles always captivates me. He's like your favorite college professor this time around.
