Review of F for Fake (1973) by Joseph S — 01 Mar 2010
Hahaha Orson Wells tells a prolonged joke about "authenticity" and "realism". Those who find such subjects dreadfully serious and artistic necessities, will probably not enjoy this or Well's experimental vision and version of the "facts".
But considering the baffling nature of Well's career, and not just his "War Of The Worlds" broadcast, but the multiple versions that exist for most of his films, his numerous unfinished projects, and his films being altered for or by studios, it's a fitting end as the final major feature from one of cinema's most misunderstood "big names".
