Review of F for Fake (1973) by Patrick B — 21 Apr 2011
Engaging and freewheeling, this is one of the most unique films I have ever seen. Not quite a documentary, but rather a sort of "essay film" (as the booklet calls it), this is Orson Welles's personal exploration of what it means to be a fake or a faker.
From forgeries to storytelling to acting, Welles explores a wide range of "faking," throwing some of his personal life and experiences in as well.
