The director, georges fanju, earlier directed the most disturbing film i've ever seen, 'blood of the beasts,' so it's no surprise 'eyes without a face' easily ranks among the top 5 creepiest, deeply unsettling movies you or I are ever likely to watch.
ruthlessly ascetic in design and direction, its quiet and deliberate pacing only heightens the tension to near-hysteria. if ever a movie could infect you with its own mania, i'd be this one.
