Review of Eyes Wide Shut (1999) by Baurushan J — 30 Sep 2012
The legendary Stanley Kubrick who was the director of The Shining (1980), A Clockwork Orange (1971) and 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) left us with his final cinematic picture before he passed away, This is my review of Eyes Wide Shut.
The story is about real life ex-couple Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman starring as William and Alice Harford who work as a physician and a gallery manager and are wealthy, successful and are living a normal happy life.
But life turns around for the two of them when William tries to help an overdosed girl while Alice is bent on seduction by another man. While neither of them act on their adulterous impulses, once the truth is brought to the open, this brings them both to a dangerous season of erotic gamesmanship with William opening his desire for his new sexual experiences after what his wife revealed to him.
Definitely one of the darkest, most complex, intense pieces of artwork-style movies that lives up to this day. Although the final cut of this film didn't make it to the rest of this movie due to Stanley Kubrick's death, the entire film's script was enough to help the audience understand what the movie was about.
Eyes Wide Shut gets a 10/10.
