Review of Eyes Wide Shut (1999) by Melanie D — 27 Jan 2013
The acting, script and storyline are all lacking and far from shocking, as intended. The snail's pace and stuttering lines given are tedious. All the characters are unsympathetic and disingenuous, save for the prostitute of all people.
But it's the overall vibe, NYC backdrop, scenery inside and out and even the extravagant decor style of each stop along the way, not least the piano lounge, that makes this a worthy adventurous experience.
I do enjoy the cringe-inducing performances by all, but the star of redemption here is the atmosphere, which gets an A+.
