Review of Eye of the Beholder (1999) by Grant S — 23 Nov 2010
Oh lordy. This looks good, and I reckon on paper reads fantastic, but the direction in this lets it down. k.d. Lang and Genevive Bujold are good but underused, McGregor is surprisingly monotonous and dull, Ashley Judd keeps showing promise but then slides into a predictable serial killer cardboard cutout making the whole shibang a bit trashy.
McGregors character (an investigator who finds himself falling for a murderer) is overly portrayed to the point that whatever empathy you're supposed to have for him disappears and he just becomes a creepy stalker.
Interesting material treated like it deserves to sit unwatched in a bargain bucket.
