Review of Eye of the Beholder (1999) by Russell G — 15 Jan 2012
I had much higher hopes for this film; the previews looked very intriguing and Ewan McGregor and Judd in the cast only made it more enticing. The professional spy falling in love with a serial killing woman had potential, but unfortunately had a bad execution.
I felt that the main characterâ(TM)s obsessive guardian motives were not well formed, in the least. The delusions of his child speaking to him did not work. The serial killer and her psyche is oversimplified and felt contrived.
The ending was actually pretty good but does not make up for the rest of the movie. Ewan McGregor and Ashley Judd are not responsible for the blame. They had bad characters, the pace was too slow, and the story was too sloppy.
