Eye in the Sky offers a fascinating insight in the way that modern warfare is conducted via the use of drones and outlines the hoops that the military have to jump through in order to obtain the authority for a strike against terrorist targets.

Add to this a human interest story of a young innocent girl in the suburbs of Nairobi, who would become collateral damage to the operation designed to prevent suicide bombers launching an attack on crowded shopping centres, and you have all the ingredients for an excellent exercise in story telling.

Some of the technological aspects of the drone arsenal are truly amazing but what I found even more unsettling is the fact that just outside a major city like Nairobi there are suburbs totally under the control of Islamic fundamentalist militia implementing every aspect of Sharia Law on the helpless inhabitants.

Considering the fact that Kenya is in no way an Islamic country it beggars belief that this state of affairs is not only allowed to exist but is openly supported by the powers to be. Helen Mirren and the late John Rickman are as always superb and the film is a 4 out of 5 for me.
