Review of Eye in the Sky (2007) by Logan M — 09 Jun 2016

Eye in the Sky stars an ensemble cast led by Helen Mirren, who portrays a British military colonial tasked with the objective of capturing high-ranking terrorists. The mission takes a dramatic turn when it is discovered that the terrorists are planning a suicide bombing that day, and the military only has minutes to form a plan of action.

This movie didn't see a large release, but I had high interest based on the cast and the positive critic reception. The ensemble cast does fantastic; Aaron Paul and Alan Rickman (in his final on-screen appearance) are great supporting cast members.

The little girl does a great job as well. This movie does a great job executing what it was trying to do. The message was about the political, military, and, especially, the moral implications of drone strikes, and the characters' emotions felt real.

Some were adamant in their opinions, while others sought to throw the decision-making to somebody else. This movie has a conscience, and both sides of the argument are present. However, the same arguments were made multiple times, which kind of took me out of it a little.

A lot of repeated statements were made by different people instead of coming up with new arguments. However, this is a political thriller with A-plus acting and a stellar score. If you enjoy these types of movies, or if you want to see Alan Rickman on-screen one last time, go watch this film!
