It may take 10, or 50, or 100 years to put the "worst day" into perspective, but it will be done one frame at a time. There is no glorified "big picture"; the singularity of this tragedy has obviously confused the American community of film critics.
Thomas Horn's frenetic Oskar is a perfect match for Sandra Bullock's quiet and thoughtful reading. The screenplay's reach exceeds its grasp at times, but there is much to like here - including the elegant, understated Alexandre Desplat score.
