Review of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) by Rebecca T — 12 Aug 2012
I was worried when I saw Flixter's "Rotton Tomato" rating. I suppose that's because of the sensitive event the movie is based around - A boy who lost his father in the September 11th Twin Towers tragedy.
I suppose many expected this to be a heart-breaking Hollywood drama that would somehow make sense and bring closure to what happened that day. This is not that kind of movie. This is a movie about people.
Every-day, ordinary people... and their extrodinary stories. These stories define what connects us all as the human race - we cry in pain, we scream with rage, and we laugh in joy. But most of all it shows how sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own stories that we miss the many sagas occuring around us, even those of the people we hold dear, no matter how "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" those stories are.
