Review of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) by Gary A — 09 Apr 2013
One of the dumbest films I have ever watched. The boredom index on this film is off the charts. I didn't think it would be possible for a movie to tell a story about 9/11 and make me not care, but this one did it. There seems to be no sense to most of the dialog or most of the plot.
The movie tries incredibly hard to bring you to tears. In fact it tries too hard. So hard that you wind up feeing nothing. It does something that would doom any film. It makes it obvious that the scenes are ACTED.
Much of the plot is completely nonsensical. It puts you to sleep more than it tugs on anyone's heartstrings. It's like everyone involved in the making of this film said "Let's see how we can show our creativity by coming up with weird stuff".
A complete waste of 2 hours.
