Review of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) by Rhys S — 04 Jul 2013
Harbouring a desire for normalcy, the protagonist seeks answers and understanding. It is in this that the average viewer must surrender their notions of tragedy and begin to see the world through his eyes.
This might seem difficult at first, but as the film so beautifully shows, perseverance can get you anywhere. The harsh contrast between the almost excessive rationality of the protagonist and the films most emotionally touching moments illustrates perfectly just how someone so young can come to terms with the diverse world around him.
