Review of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) by Jacquelyne A — 27 Aug 2013
This is a heart warming tearjerker of a child trying to make sense of such a tragic loss. This movie hits a level of atmosphere seldom reached on the big screen. The tragedy of 9/11, shaped into a heartbreaking story; strong, vivid and personal.
The trouble with a lot of movies on historical events is the story is easily being made too big. It keeps you from really seeing the events from ground level. 'Extremely loud & incredibly close' is quite an experience.
It succeeds in keeping the story very intimate. It delivers the message all the more convincing. 9/11 really hit me from a whole new perspective. A memento of that terrible autumn of 2001. Definitely a must-see, no doubt about it.
