Review of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) by Nick C — 07 Sep 2013
Extremely Loud, Incredibly Close is an amazing film.
I cried through 75% of this movie. It is a story about a boy trying to cope with the death of his father, while going on his father's last great quest for him. It's heartbreaking and an extremely emotional film with a phenomenal cast. It is very relatable in its discussion about a tragic event that we all remember like it was yesterday and the way it uncovers the roots of familial relationships. This movie was hard for me. It reminded me of my father.
My only real criticism is how quick the plot built momentum for a fantastic ending, only to collapse at the end.
Seriously, see this movie. Don't see it with certain expectations. See it to learn about families and coping. I would see it again...and again. Next time I will remember three boxes of tissues.
