Review of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) by Julie S — 08 Dec 2013
It's a family drama featuring a kid in distress. Plus Tom Hanks stars. You'd have to hash this up pretty bad for me not to rate it. I do always find it hard to score films that make me cry to this extent though.
My face had to be out back together afterwards. It's depicts the fallout of a young boy with Aspergers coming to terms with losing his father at 9/11. You can imagine the strings don't have to be pulled too tightly to tear my heart apart.
Separate to my emotional response though, I found it to be superbly acted by the young fellow who felt completely believable to me. Hanks very well suited to playing best dad ever and Bullock doing fine with her small role of supportive but under appreciated momma.
