** (out of four).

The subject matter is interesting and worthwhile, but the overall treatment in this film from CBS Pictures is stale and unmemorable.

Brendan Fraser plays a Portland man who has two children suffering from a disease similar in nature to M.D. He searches the country looking for a scientific breakthrough. He finally finds a doctor, played by Harrison Ford, in Lincoln who has done much research. They form a company and seek funding for the research.

For all the talk of science and business, I was a bit disappointed that so little was spent on the emotional impact. I wish the plot had focused on the personal life of the children involved. Instead everything is very cliched. As for the performances, Ford comes off best. For some reason I found it hard to connect with Fraser much.
