Every parents worst nightmare, dealing with a sick child. In John and Aileen Crowley's case, it's two sick children, both of whom are dying. Enter a researcher who believes he has a theory that will save their lives.

This movie reminds one of Lorenzo's Oil but it certainly isn't in the same quality category. Extraordinary Measures is closer to a TV movie-of-the-week. Harrison Ford turns in a very good performance as the crusty doctor who has the answers but must fight the establishment.

Brendan Fraser is OK here, just don't think he has the emotional range necessary for the role. The DVD includes interviews with the real John and Aileen Crowley and their kids. Certainly quite a difference to how they are portrayed in the movie.

And, I daresay you'll shed a tear at the end but it's a happy tear.
