Review of Extraordinary Measures (2010) by Zureyka C — 23 Jul 2010
It was an interesting film that I believe was based on a true story [I think]. It's a drama based on the story of John [Brendan Fraser] with his wife Aileen [Keri Russell] looking to find a cure for their 2 kids having a rare genetic disorder called Pompe. It's sad to see and know that kids are suffering with such a rare disease and they can only live til 9 years of age if they're lucky. And so this movie shows the process it takes as John, desperate to save his kid in time, tries his best to get the process going to find a cure with the help of Harrison Ford's character Stonehill who is a brilliant researcher that has made theories that could possibly lead to a cure.
It's not a movie about action or mystery or romance or anything in particular. Some may find this movie dull but it was just an thought-provoking movie to watch and see how a theory of a cure is developed into an actual drug testing that will lead to a possible cure. And plus it's a disease I've never heard of so it was intriguing to learn about. The acting was well done and the ending was good. A happy one at least.
