Meant to be a tear-jerker Extraordinary Measures is an interesting disease-related drama without much emotional load.

Based on a true story the script could have been focused more on the drama within the family or on the critics of the emotionless pharmaceutical industry where it's not about saving lives, but about ROI (return on investment). The performance of the lead characters also does a little to tug the heartstrings of the audience and except for the grumpy and solid Harrison Ford, Brendan Fraser and company fail to communicate the core message of this movie.

Not a bad movie, but it takes some nerves to swallow it to the final credits.
