Review of Extract (2009) by Andrew S — 26 Apr 2010

This is one of those films that's been growing on me since I left the cinema. Sitting watching it I enjoyed it, I laughed out loud at several points but felt that it wasn't quite as funny as it could have been.

Since leaving the cinema and pondering it a bit more I've realised it's a very fine film indeed though. It's not as obviously funny as Office Space but the character observations are brilliant.

One particular scene in which a belligerent employee states "Well, if they're not doing their job then I'm not doing mine" wonderfully illustrates what's wrong with the egotistical culture we seem to be living in these days and where it's leading us.

I probably wouldn't watch this film again just for the laughs but it's going to stay with me as one that got me thinking and if it's on I will watch it. Well done Mike Judge!
